Scope and content:: The collection contains: general documents; statistics; border and sovereign matters; taxes; levies and services; military; domain matters; divisions and redemptions; congregations; police and courts; church and school. Of special interest to Jewish history are: general matters on the protection of Jews and the powers of granting it; protection money; burial place of Jews in Coppenbrügge; marriage of Jews; acceptance of permanent last names by Jews residing in the administrative district; regulation of Jewish education; employment of teachers at the Jewish school in Coppenbrügge; election and obligation of the heads of the Jewish congregation in Coppenbrügge; birth, marriage and death records of the Jewish congregation in Coppenbrügge; birth, wedding announcement (proclamation), marriage and death certificates for the Jewish congregations in the cantons of Hemmendorf and Münder; synagogue, school and poor; choice and appointment of state rabbis, state rabbinate treasury and contributions to the same; construction of the temple in Coppenbrügge; election of two leaders of the Jewish poor-relief association of the Israelites, which comprises the districts of Hannover and Lüneburg; identifying and introducing a new contribution to the levies of the Coppenbrügge synagogue; holding conferences with the authorities by the state rabbi during his inspection trip; issue of marriage certificates of Jews.

Archival history:: The total holdings of Lauenstein administrative district are divided into the two parts designated as Hann. 74 Lauenstein and Hann. 74 Lauenstein-Coppenbrügge. The period 1859-1885, which relates to the former administrative district of Coppenbrügge, is covered by the files of the collection Hann. 74 Lauenstein-Coppenbrügge, some of which were continued until 1885, and which were taken from Hann. 74 Lauenstein.
