- Administrative/biographical history:
- The reform of administrative districts in the first half of the 19th century was primarily intended to provide a territorial fusion of the sometimes confused and entangled areas of rule into a single administrative area. The administrative district of Hildesheim, formed in various ways in 1823, 1844, 1852 and 1859, is a merger of villages from the former small administrative districts of Dompropstei, Steuerwald, Marienburg and Ruthe.
