- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Bockenem administrative district was formed in 1852 from the city of Bockenem, the former second state bailiwick [Amtsvogtei] of the Wohldenberg administrative district, as well as some municipalities of the administrative district of Bilderlahe (Königsdahlum, Klein Ilde, Salzdetfurth, Wohlenhausen). In 1859, the remainder of the old administrative district of Wohldenberg (the towns of the former manorial bailiwick [Hausvogtei] of Wohldenberg) was merged with the Bockenem administrative district (cf. H. Ringklib, Statistical Overview, 1853 and 1859, respectively).
