Scope and content:: Of special interest to Jewish history within this collection are: documents relating to protection of the Jews in the jurisdiction of the Ahlden administrative district; granting of writs of protection to Jews in the district of Rethem; collection and calculation of Jewish protection money in the district of the former administrative district of Rethem; Jewish synagogue, school and poor; news demanded by the government about the family circumstances of the Jewish residents in the Rethem administrative district; granting of writs of protection to Israelites in the district of Rethem; renewal of writs of protection for Israelites in the jurisdiction of the former Ahlden administrative district; burial place of the Israelite congregation of Ahlden; Israelite cemetery in Rethem; appointment of a teacher for the Israelite congregation of Ahlden; appointment of a teacher for the Israelite congregation of Rethem and his salary.

Archival history:: The collection consists of the old holdings of the administrative district of Ahlden and extensive transfers from the district of Fallingbostel (Acc. 86/55 and 32/62). These include files from the Ahlden and Rethem administrative district, the bailiwick of Essel, and numerous documents of non-state provenance.
