- Archival history:
- The collection was transferred from the State Archives of Schwerin to the Main State Archive Hannover. The Carrenzien head forest ranger's office belonged to the GDR after the end of the Second World War due to its location in the district of Lüneburg to the right of the Elbe river, which meant the files from the provenance of the head forest ranger's office had initially arrived in Schwerin. Documents of the forestry office from 1945 to 1993 are still to be found in the state main archive in Schwerin. In 1993, the municipalities in the former Neuhaus administrative district (today's municipality administrative district of Neuhaus (Elbe)) were reorganised into the district of Lüneburg by interstate treaty between the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Lower Saxony (Nds. GVBl. 18, 1993 p. 121 ff.). From this point on, the Carrenzien forestry office has once again become part of the jurisdictional area of the Lower Saxony State Archives.
