The collections contains records relating to sovereign matters; domestic affairs; district administration; statistics; agriculture, domains and forests; church and school; medicine; agricultural and hydraulic engineering; taxes; military matters; police; trade; social affairs; settlement; insurance.
Of special interest to Jewish history are: general provisions relating to Jewish persons; burial places of the synagogue association; Berlin Secret State Police Office and Hannover State Police Office: political communications and reporting in political matters, monitoring of parties, organisations, persons, ecclesiastical religious associations, measures against Jews, prohibition of events and printed works: Lists of Jews living in the district and members of Jewish organisations from October to December 1935 (establishment of a Jewish file in Germany), Jewish archive material - evidence of existing personal status lists, wealth holdings of former “public enemy” and “state enemy” organisations; criminal investigation department matters, investigations, list of Jewish car owners in the district as of April 1936, directories of persons wanted for violating foreign currency or tax rules; supplementing the police residents' register with a file ordered according to years of birth - "people's index”, administration and correction of said index; reports of the district mayors on the recording of Jews, first and second degree "half Jews" (Mischlinge) and mixed marriages, whereabouts after the war; seizure of Jewish assets; hiring teachers and improving the service revenue of the Jewish school office in Wunstorf, Jewish school office in Neustadt, burial places of the synagogue association.
- Archival history:
- The administrative district of Neustadt/Rübenberge reached its largest territorial expansion with the last Hannover administrative reform in 1859 by the addition of the previously independent administrative district of Ricklingen and of parts of the administrative district of Blumenau with Bokeloh, Wölpe and Rehburg.
