- With the district administrative order for the province of Hannover taking effect, in 1885 the administration of the city of Dannenberg became the administrative district of Dannenberg and the administration and city of Lüchow became the administrative district of Lüchow. In the course of the district reform of 1932, the district of Lüchow was abolished and incorporated into Dannenberg. The district seat was initially in Dannenberg. It was not until 1951 that it was transferred to Lüchow. At the same time, the name of the administrative district was changed to Lüchow-Dannenberg.
