- The collection contains material regarding the following subjects: criminal proceedings; criminal trials; mortgage records; mortgage matters; leaving the church; guardianships; inheritance; health cases. Of special interest to Jewish history are: request of the Lord Mayor of the city of Göttingen to exclude Jews from the use of wood from communal property; transfer of Jewish land holdings and Jewish mortgage claims on the German Reich, including, among others, an alphabetical list of owners.

- The district court of Göttingen is a part of the jurisdictional area of the regional court of Göttingen. In 1879, the area of competence of the district court of Göttingen included the city and the administrative district of Göttingen (cf. Prussian Law Collection 1879, p. 506). Even before 1945, the municipalities of Groß Lengden, Klein Lengden, Sieboldshausen and Volkerode, as well as the Kerstlingeröderfeld estate, had fallen into the competence of the district court of Göttingen.
