In October 2009, the archival records of the university of Hannover were finally transferred from the Lower Saxony state archives - the main state archive of Hannover - to the university archives.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The University of Applied Sciences in Hannover, founded by royal decree in 1831, gave rise to the Royal Institute of Technology in 1879. After the integration of the Hannover department of the pedagogical university of Lower Saxony, the technical university was designated "University of Hannover" in 1978. Since 2006 - the 175th anniversary of its founding (and the 360th anniversary of the birth of its namesake) - it has been called "Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover”.
