- Scope and content:
- The collection is an outstanding equity (corpus allodiale) of the Bredenbeck estate by the district administrator von Knigge as guardian. It contains, among others: bankruptcy of the Jews Gumpert and Isaac Beerens (Behrens) in Hannover; transfer of the estate Leveste by the land trust Franz Heinrich Freiherr (baron) von Knigge to his wife Charlotte Elisabeth Freifrau (baroness) von Knigge, née von Münchhausen, therein: correspondence from an unknown person with Lieutenant von Knigge in Potsdam because of his debts and dealings with the Jew Salomon in Hannover (1798); lawsuit of the advocate Vogel as mandatary of the estates of the Knigge family against heirs of the chamber agent Alexander David, accountant Philipson, in indefinite matters, in it: activity of the Jewish pioneer Abraham Brackel in Braunschweig.
- Archival history:
- In April 1900, August Baron of Knigge in Leveste offered the Hannover state archives the deposit of the original documents stored in Leveste and Bredenbeck, as well as other historical archival documents. A deposit agreement was signed on 9-12 July 1900. In the same month, documents and files arrived from both castles, mainly relating to loans, family and property management matters.
