The family of Lenthe divided around 1300 into several lines, each of which had its own knight's seat or Sattelhöfe [estates freed of the corvee] in Lenthe. By 1500, there were four such Sattelhöfe, of which only two still exist today, the so-called Obergut (upper estate) and a Untergut (lower estate). The Obergut is still owned by Lenthe family.
