- Archival history:
- The archive of the territorial estates of Hoya has probably been located in the Nienburg city hall at least since the 18th century. After acquiring a territorial estates building in the mid-19th century, it was transferred there.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Hoya-Diepholz territorial estates are rooted in the medieval territories of the same name, that is, the county of Hoya and the demesne and (since the 16th century) county of Diepholz. The unification of the territorial estates of these two territorial formations did not take place until the 19th century.
