- Scope and content:
- The collection Celle Br 65 contains constitutions and ordinances etc. of the principality of Lüneburg (i.e., the dukes, the privy councils or the chancellors, vice-chancellors and councillors, the consistory, etc.) partly in print, partly in concept or transcript, often together with relevant files, from 1565 to 1705, in a few cases until 1732. However, there are also regulations related to Wolfenbüttel, Hannover, Osnabrück, Bremen-Verden and Schleswig-Holstein. There are relevant documents regarding courts and police, Landtage [regional parliament], wells and water, wood, war, taxes, tobacco, “gypsies” etc. Of special interest are: regulation of the privy council and the councillors that the protected Jews (Schutzjuden) are not allowed to take the hides they bought out of the state (2 copies), ordinance of duke Georg Wilhelm regarding the instruction of Jews in the Christian faith (9 copies).
