Collection Cal Br. 7 contains 27 files referring to Calenberg convents and monasteries a few pieces relating to four foreign monasteries. With very few exceptions, they cover the period from the 15th century to 1705, when the unification of Calenberg with the principality of Celle took place. Files of the Calenberg or Wolfenbüttel central authorities relate to building matters; financial management; church and school matters; matters of farm estates; accounting; foundations; visits of various monasteries.
Of special interest to Jewish history are: request to the monastic councillors to accept as a member a baptised Jew by the name of Friedrich; receipt of the Jew Liebmann Goldschmidt at Hevensen (Hevenshausen) for the monastery the amount of 400 Reich thalers in capital and 26 thalers in interest; re-acquisition of the chasubles and chalices pawned by the deceased administrator of the monastery, Daniel Götte, and wrongly withheld by the Jew Jacob Cantor in Kassel after settlement from the personal estate, as well as the authorised sale of other robes still in possession of the monastery.
