This collection comprises the files of the central administration of the large prince-bishopric of Hildesheim under Guelph government from 1523 to 1642/43, although individual pieces and transcripts date back to the 14th century. Included are the administrative acts of the clergy, the prince-bishopric and the monasteries, feudal matters as well as matters of the cities and administrative districts of the large prince-bishopric of Hildesheim. It is historically significant because it provides information about Hildesheim's feuds, the famous feud between the prince-bishopric (Hochstift) of Hildesheim and the Guelph principalities of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and Calenberg.
Of special interest to Jewish history is the chamber in Wolfenbüttel: active claim of the Jew Abraham Schay before the princely Braunschweig-Lüneburg Commission of Goslar against the timber forest warden Hans von Albaxen in Supplingenburg (Nr. 346); colonel and district officer of Calenberg Arnd (Arendt) von Wobersnow: purchase of the estate of Nettlingen from the brewery guild of Hildesheim (Nr. 635); the guarantee of the Jew Nathan Schay and delay of the negotiations.
