Collection A comprises the material from the Rendsburg Town Administration, from the 14th century until roughly 1976. It contains 124 files of material about the local Jewish population. Sub-collection VI, as far as it is established by now, comprises the material about Jews. Most of the 124 files are part of that sub-section. This includes an extensive set of 17th and 18th century material about settlement requests and application for business and trade licenses, divided into both case files and general legal material. The older material of the collection also contains files about the legal state of single “Schutzjuden“ (protected Jews) and the companies or businesses run by Jewish citizens.
The sub-section also contains statistic material about the Rendsburg Jewish congregation such as registers of birth, death and marriage; documents about migration and the growth of the local congregation. It also includes material about the congregation administration, such as documents about the congregation presidents or the local Jewish school.
Material outside the VI sub-collection mostly consists of documents about business conflicts between Jews and non-Jewish citizens; the participation of Jewish merchants at local annual fairs and markets and court files about criminal investigation against Jews.
