- Subsection VIII c.15 of the guilds collection comprises material about the grocers’ company. It includes one file (No. 868), dating from 1816 to 1817 but also including later material from 1825, which concerns the Grocers' Guild's business conflicts with local Jewish merchants. The grocers complain about the “Schutzjuden” (protected Jews) Levin Aaron Samson and Joseph Aaron Samson and their shop on the outskirts of Kiel, as well as about their activities as door-to-door merchants. The file contains an extensive report about the Samson brothers' activities and related correspondence. In the course of the events the brothers apply to the Royal Court in Gottorf for full citizenship, including full economic rights. The material from 1825 concerns the “Schutzjude“ (protected Jew) Hirsch Wolff, accused of running an illegal sales business, including a report about Wolff's activities.
