Collection II.30 comprises material from the Kiel city administration concerning the time of National Socialist rule and its impact on the town administration. The collection contains 69 files, 30 of them being directly connected to the fate of Jewish citizens.
28 files document the expropriation of Jewish businesses following the November 1938 pogroms. The material is arranged one file per case. Jewish businessmen and women named in the files are (in alphabetical order): David Alexander, Beatrice Baumgarten, Salomon Berger, Genia Ebner, Josef Feldmann, Heinrich Haller-Munk, Alwin Hurtig, Bruno Hirsch, Martin Hirsch, Rolf Karlsberg, Mendel Kresch, Dora Kufelnitzky, Rosa Ruhd Lenkowicz, Jacob Levy, Anna Mayweg, Wolf Sandbank, Karl Schlumper, Heinrich Tellermann, Arthur Trieger, Golda Weitz, Kalmann Wilkenfeldt. These files contain correspondence about the liquidation and the nomination of a trustee.
The collection contains another relevant file (No. 35426) from the years between 1960 and 1969. This file contains correspondence between the town administration and Yad Vashem, with Yad Vashem asking for help with research for a book collecting data on former Jewish congregations in Germany and Europe which were forcibly liquidated between 1940 and 1944. The file contains a list of 331 names of Jews who lived in Kiel before World War II, including addresses and nationalities. Most of the persons mentioned were deported and eventually killed. The file contains another, even more extensive, list of all the Jews who left Kiel in the years of National Socialism, including data about their fate (emigration, moving to another town, deportation, unknown – declared dead).
No. 38798 contains a copy of a list originally written by the local NSDAP administration. It lists all businesses in Kiel known to be run by Jews or with the participation of Jews.
