- Administrative/biographical history:
- In the course of the Napoleonic Wars Bremen was occupied by French troops in 1811. Between 1811 and 1813 the Bremen town administration was reorganised by French authorities. These years were a short-term renaissance for Jewish life in town with several laws liberalising the legal situation of Jews in Bremen. Many of these progressive rules were abolished and restrictive laws reinstated after the end of French occupation.
