The collection contains material from the highest financial authorities in Schleswig-Holstein. (Former) citizens of Schleswig-Holstein were able to demand financial compensation for personal or economic damage or the return of belongings, estates, businesses, taken from them in the time of National Socialism. Most of the claimants were (former) citizens who had been persecuted for their Jewish religion or descent under National Socialist rule. Other claimants were political opponents, homosexuals, “gypsies“ and other social groups who had suffered National Socialist persecution.
The collection contains 1,849 files of restitution trials. Due to personal data protection they only be investigated for research purposes with a special permit. However, the files can easily be found. The printed registers comprise several substantial folders. The easiest way to find single files is to have an archivist look into the digital finding aids, where every single case is listed including the names of claimants, attorneys, prosecutors etc.
