- This collection comprises material from the former department of Stolzenau that existed as a unit of administration before the formation of the rural district of Stolzenau in 1885. Sub-section G consists of documents about churches and other religious institutions, in which series G.2 deals with the Jewish congregations of Stolzenau, Steyerberg-Liebenau and Rehburg. The collection contains five files (no. 174-178) with No. 175-177 being of unique value for regional Jewish genealogy: They contain registers of births, deaths and marriages for the congregations named above, starting in 1844, thus including information not available from state documents, as the official statistics about births, deaths and marriages from this early time have not survived.
