- Section A1 of the Nienburg District and Town Archive comprises the documents from Nienburg's town administration until 1886. Sub-section A1 3 contains material about religious groups and congregations in the town of Nienburg. A1 3-29 mainly comprises material about the economic situation of Jews living in the town of Nienburg, their professional and social situation. It contains decrees and bills about the treatment of begging and foreign Jews, more general decrees concerning the rights and restrictions of Jewish civil life in the town of Nienburg, individual requests by local Jews concerning their state of protection (“Schutzjuden“) as well as correspondence about individual conflicts between Jews and non-Jewish citizens. It also comprises a set of original letters of protection for local „Schutzjuden“ and reports about their situation. The collection furthermore contains documents about the number of Jews living in Nienburg.
