- Administrative/biographical history:
- The municipal construction department of Osnabrück was founded in 1859 with the reorganisation of state construction matters after the abolition of the domain chamber. It was directly subordinate to the Ministry of Finance and included the bailiwick administrative area including the monastery properties and domains. In 1871, instead of the previous water, road and agriculture inspectorates, building districts were established under the bailiwicks, and in 1883-84, respectively, under the administrative districts (Regierungsbezirke). In 1897 the building districts of Osnabrück I and II were combined to form the building district of Osnabrück. In 1911, it was renamed construction department (Hochbauamt), in 1934 in state construction department. Since 2001, the administrative designation is Osnabrück-Emsland state building management. The supervisory authority was the district government. Since 1990, the task has been performed solely by the state construction department of the Hannover higher regional finance authority.
