In addition, there is written material of the Osnabrück government authorities, as far as this had been entered into the registries of the Secret Council of Hannover and the German Chancellery in London by the special rule conditions (alternation, foreign residence). Items relevant to Jewish history include: II No. 166 Request of the protected Jew (Schutzjude) Salomon Gans for acceptance in Osnabrück in 1802; I No. 281 charge of the treasurer (Rentmeister) Schmittmann in Wittlage by the Herford Jew Samuel Levi because of his punishment on the occasion of the trading without escort in Osnabrück; II No. 165 application concerning the personal toll and the freedom of trade in the Principality of Osnabrück filed by the head of the Jewish congregation in Lemförde Moses Jacob Kugelmann concerning the year 1802.
- Archival history:
- The documents were first kept in the main State Archive Hannover under the designations of Cal. Des. 24 Osnabr. and Hann. Des. 9 Geh. Registr. Osn. In 1869 (Acc. 4/69). The files were transferred to the newly established State Archive Osnabrück. There they received the collection reference numbers Rep 101 A (previously Cal. Br. 24, mainly from the period of the reign of the the first Guelph bishop Ernst August I, later Rep 110 I) and Rep 101 B (previously Hann 9, mostly from the period of the reign of the last Guelph bishop Friedrich von York, later Rep 110 II)/ From then on, they were referred to as "Landesarchiv" ("State Archive”).
