- Archival history:
- The archive of the Krämeramt was acquired by the Meyer family. In 1996, the State Archives received some documents from a family member for safekeeping. They date back to 1512. These include privileges, log books and teaching letters. The remainder of the deposit concerns the family and the company Eduard Meyer, who shipped the liqueur he made all over the world ("Meyer's Bitter"). Further documents of the Krämeramt are still in the possession of the family. A directory and a film of the documents are in the State Archives (FA 55). In addition to this collection, the Section Krämeramt of the municipal archive Stadthagen C XI 3m is to be used, which contains, among others, the privileges of the office since the 16th century.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Krämeramt (merchant office) in Stadthagen, the influential merchant guild, was first mentioned in 1410. After enforcing the freedom of trade in 1869, the Krämeramt dissolved in 1886.
