- Administrative/biographical history:
- Emerging from the trade and industry association for Schaumburg-Lippe, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Schaumburg-Lippe was founded on 3 April 1925. Six years later, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Hannover took over the tasks; until then independent, the Schaumburg-Lippe chamber became a branch. During Second World War, the IHK was subordinated to the Westphalia Gau Economics Chamber (Gauwirtschaftskammer Westfalen) and thus to the IHK Bielefeld, in 1947 to the Hannover branch. With the emergence of the District of Schaumburg from the formerly two districts of Schaumburg-Lippe and the County of Schaumburg, the area of responsibility of the present IHK Schaumburg grew as well, with two branches in Stadthagen and Rinteln by then; the latter was closed in 1986.
