- Archival history:
- The oldest parts of the archive date back to the 16th century. Numerous files were continued by the Landeskirchenamt, so that the documentation extends to 1945 in some cases.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- As early as the end of the 16th century, a consistory existed for the County of Schaumburg, which after the division of the county continued to exist for Schaumburg-Lippe in Bückeburg. In 1919, the Landeskirchenrat (state church council) replaced the state sovereign and consistory, and in 1927, with the rights of the former consistory, the Landeskirchenamt (state church office). The consistory was initially responsible for church and school affairs in Schaumburg-Lippe. After 1918 the Landeskirchenamt (state church office) was only responsible for ecclesiastical matters.
