- Scope and content:
- This collection comprises several sub-collections, which are managed separately. Several of them contain files with Jewish matters, such as Dep. 3 F (Family Archive), Dep. 3 GA (estate archive Apelern, with remains of the estate archive Windischleuba); Dep. 3 GM (estate archive Moringen); Dep. 3 GP (estate archive Parensen); Dep. 3 GR (estate archive Remeringhausen); Dep. 3 L (joint library) and various collections (autographs, book covers, parchments, pictures, watermarks). Because of the geographical spread, but also because of the important position of many members of this rural aristocratic family, the importance of this archive goes far beyond Schaumburg. Relevant subjects are, among others: Manuscript of the captain Börries von Münchhausen as a court judge in Hannover, debt claims of the court Jew Moses Leeser in Bückeburg against the district commissioner (Landdrost) Börries of Münchhausen in Moringen, settlements.
