- Scope and content:
- This collection comprises records concerning the monitoring of prices for goods and services of all kinds. Files concerning Jews are: No. 92 Supervision of the price-making and inspection agencies on the opticians and their business with watches, gold and silver goods: general decrees and regulations on the sale and recovery of precious metals and jewels in Jewish ownership, 1936-1950.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- For the implementation of the four-year plan from 1936 to 1939, a Reich Commissioner was appointed by the law of 29 October 1936. Regarding price setting, his task was to monitor the pricing of goods and services of all kinds and to establish price support and monitoring agencies with regional responsibilities. Those were subordinated to the supreme state authorities - in Schaumburg-Lippe, to the state government. After the war, the price formation offices in the British zone were placed under control of the central office for economy in Minden, while the price monitoring of the local district was initially carried out by the district of Bückeburg, then from 1946 by the chief administrative officer in Hannover. At the beginning of 1947, the price formation and monitoring agencies were dissolved and a price authority was set up for the district of Bückeburg and the district of Stadthagen. With the introduction and consolidation of the "free market economy" the tasks became more and more superfluous until they were abolished in about 1955.
