- Karl Steinacker (1872-1944) studied history of art, archaeology and history in Berlin, Munich, Strasbourg and Heidelberg. In 1910, he became the first full-time director of the Vaterländisches Museum (Fatherland-Museum; now Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum).
