- The collection of the city superintendent contains files concerning the relationship between Jews and Christians, such as No. 10: Proselytes from Judaism, Mohammedanism and Paganism, "Moors" and "Gypsies" (1733-1839), No. 16: Proselytes from the Roman Catholic Church, No. 42: Relationship of Sects and Jews to Protestants (1859-1863 ), No. 62: The surplice fee (1817-1827) to be paid by members of the Reformed Church and Jews, No. 231: Jewish Schools (1818-1824), No. 256: Jewish Religious School (1859).
- Archival history:
- The city superintendent was created during the Reformation in 1528. The city superintendent was at the head of the city clergy; he was also a member of the spiritual court established in 1671 and was the link between the preachers and the Ducal Consistory. He was responsible for the supervision of the ecclesiastical affairs in the area of the city of Braunschweig, the parish churches and ecclesiastical institutions, the preachers and other church servants, as well as church life in the individual communities.
