- Administrative/biographical history:
- With the abolitions of the revised municipal ordinance in 1946 by the British occupying power, a double-track city directive was introduced in Lower Saxony in order to achieve a stronger separation between politics and administration. In addition to the honorary mayor, a full-time chief municipal director headed the municipality. From 1946 to 2001, the position was held by four chief municipal directors: Erich Walter Lotz, Hans-Günther Weber, Joachim Körner and Jürgen Bräcklein.
