- The collection contains, in addition to general documents regarding the donation system, files concerning foundations situated in Braunschweig, among them Jewish foundations, such as 407 and 408: Jewish Foundations Ez Chaim (1891-1945), No. 409: Jewish Foundations: List of Jewish Foundations under the supervision of the Lord Mayor of the City of Braunschweig (1934-1949), No. 833: Jüdel Foundation: Donations to the Jewish Community (1945-1946), No. 1430: City Foundations: Restitution of Jewish Assets (1957-1959).

- The collection was created in 1968 from the earlier part D IV 10 Charitable foundations and foundation files handed over in several batches by the city treasury. Thus, related foundation files from the period from the 19th to the 20th century could be combined into one collection.
