- The collection contains the written documentation and communication of the Stadtarchiv and Stadtbibliothek (municipal archive and library) such as publications, exhibitions, activities. Some projects concerning Jews, are sponsored by the office, such as V: 10.1: Documentation of the Jews in Braunschweig (V 56) (1981/1990).
- Archival history:
- After the organisational separation from the city library, the municipal archive was designated Office 47 and accommodated in a school building on Löwenwall which was fitted out for archival purposes. When the city administration was restructured in 2001-02, the municipal archive was assigned to the newly created department of cultural affairs as Office 41.
