- The files of the police direction mainly concern affairs of the guilds and retailers, some of whom were Jews, including No. 42: Gold and Silver Workers' Guild and others, petition of the local goldsmith's union that local and foreign Jews and garment sellers may be forbidden from peddling gold and silver in the town there (1782).

- The Ducal Police Department replaced the former police departments with the establishment of the Westphalian administration on 1 February 1814 . Its task also included the maintenance of public security and order. Until the establishment of the police headquarters in 1927, the police department performed the task of the local and state police in the city of Braunschweig.
