- The files are divided into 17 groups concerning above all the relationships between the city and other dukes, cities and city leagues. Several files concern Jews, such as No. 1: 1: History of the feuds: Duke Wilhelm 1432, Duke Heinrich the Elder 1492, Duke Heinrich the Younger (The Jews of Braunschweig 1359, 1506), No. 1: 42: Escort of the Jews (1578-1584), No. 15: 3: Declaration of the council and the ten men of the city of Braunschweig, because of the injunctions in the wake of the Reformation, on bells, vestments, chalices and jewels of the churches and because of the Jews and the Kreuzkloster pp. (1532).
- Archival history:
- The collection was edited by the ducal court judge Anton Ulrich von Erath in the years 1742 to 1747, and the largest part of the files is compiled according to factual criteria and bound in extensive paper volumes. After numerous additions, the file became difficult for users to access and insufficiently developed. Archive director Werner Spieß therefore decided in his reorganisation of the archive holdings to combine all subsequent additions to B III into a separate holding B IV. Collection B III and B IV are to be used in parallel.
