- Scope and content:
- The collection holds fragmented records of the Registry Office of Cegléd, a municipal administrative body responsible for the state administration of births, marriages and deaths as stipulated by Act XXIII of 1895. The collection includes records of personal data for the registries, including certificates of births, marriages and deaths, lists on and decisions about modification of registration data (utólagos bejegyzések). Primary reasons for modification included magyarisation of names and conversion, both are important sociological indicators of Jewish communities. There is a separate part of the collection holding the certificates of racial origin stipulated by Act IV of 1939 (also known as the Second Jewish Law).
- Archival history:
- The records of the Registry Office of Cegléd were taken over by the Cegléd City Council after 1945. The City Council handed over the material to the Pest County Archives in 1978. The material was sorted and the present fonds was created in 1985. The material is of fragmented nature.

- The predecessor of the Registry Office of Cegléd, the Cegléd Registry District was created in 1895, in order to control and manage the state registration of births, marriages and deaths as stipulated by Act XXIII of 1895.

- The records were initially arranged by file numbers, re-started each year. However, later on certain thematic series were created, for example records pertaining to births or deaths.
