- The collection holds fragmented records of the Housing Office of Cegléd, a municipal administrative body responsible for the rental, distribution and administration of apartments, social housing and many other housing affairs in town. In the pre-1944 part of the collection, the cases of Jewish citizens can be located by file-level investigation of the material. The most relevant part of the collection is Box 11, which includes a registry of all apartments in Cegléd (lakásnyilvántartás) from the years 1918-1926 and a list of houses owned by Jews from 1944 (zsidó tulajdonban lévő házak jegyzéke). In 1944, the housing offices were responsible for the registration and handling of Jewish apartments confiscated by the state after the ghettoisation and deportation of their owners. The tasks of the housing office included the inventory and safekeeping of furniture and other personal items left behind, the distribution and rental of apartments, the dealing with private requests for Jewish real state and moveable property and many other related issues.
