- Archival history:
- The incomplete and unarranged documents were transferred to the Archives on 29 March 1978 from the Chamber of Commerce of the County Subotica – Commission in Senta. The next transfer was registered on the 3 March 1979. In the following years the records were grouped, catalogued, and finding aids compiled. Eight guild books created in the period 1820-1886 were preserved and registered in the Summary catalogue, ref. nos. 1-7. Record-keeping protocols of the Association of Craftsmen, 1948-1950, are kept in the archival fonds F.009 for technical reasons. The books of the Association are complete, the records incomplete.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Associations of craftsmen as interested communities were founded in these areas, thus in Bačko Potisje, after the XVIII Law was adopted in the Assembly of Hungary in 1884, under the name “Ipartörvény”. They operated under various socio-political circumstances in several state formations. Their goal was always the same, only their name changed during each socio-political upheaval. The Association of Craftsmen in Senta was established in 1886 under the name “Zentai Ipartestület”; it came under the authority of the Crafts Chamber of Segedin. After WWI it changed its name to Crafts Association of Senta and operated within the framework of the legislation of the new state. It kept its books in Serbian. From April 1944 it became “Zenta Város Ipartestülete”. It operated within the Hungarian legislation and kept its books in Hungarian. Based on the order of the Subotica City Command Ref. No. 306, the foundation session of the Association of Craftsmen in Senta was held from 14 December 1945 until 14 August 1950.
