The documents created by the Association of Craftsmen in Kanjiža provide information on the Jewish community and craftsmen living and working in the territory of Kanjiža. The administrative books in the fonds were created between 1887 and 1952. The collection includes minutes, record-keeping protocols, evidences of craftsmen, registers of craftsmen, evidence of the labour force, books of auxiliary exams, student contracts, details of assistants, directory of business booklets, financial books, and a book of membership fees. The majority of data relating to Jews can be found in the following books:

The records preserved in the fonds were created in 1887-1949 and include comprised statutes and minutes, financial reports, pupils’ agreements and labour booklets amongst others.

- The unarranged records were transferred to the Archives from Kanjižain 1964. In the following years the documents were grouped, catalogued and finding aids compiled.

The associations of craftsmen were established after the adoption of the XVIII Law in 1884 by the Hungarian Assembly, under the original name “Ipartörvény”, in order to help and promote interests of the members, to foster professional education and specialisation, etc.
The Association of Craftsmen in Kanjiža was established in 1887 under the name “Magyarkanizsai Ipartestület“. After WWI it was named “Association of Crafts in Stara Kanjiža”. In the period 1941-1944 it operated under its original name. In Socialist Yugoslavia it was renamed to “Association of Craftsmen”. It ceased to exist in 1949.
