- The collection comprises documents created by the Municipality of Stari Bečej [Óbecse Nagyközség], which includes some that give details on the Jewish population living in the territory of Stari Bečej. They can be found in the following boxes: box no. 1: minutes of the sessions of the Municipality Assembly, 1941/1943; box no. 2: c. 15 files with information on the movable property of Jewish citizens who were moving away, revocation of the work permit for the lumberyard, ethical testimony, termination of craft activity, report on the situation in the counties of Stari Bečej and Žabalj with data on the 405 Jews living in those territories, data on the size of Jewish real estate; box no. 3: lists of persons who had to report for forced labour, items related to retirement, tax, accidents; box no. 4: list of traders, property inventories, items related to criminal offences and real estate; box no. 5: documentation on the Credit Cooperative and the Civil Society, documentation on guardianship, lease, house tax, prohibition of craftsmanship, citizenship, foundation, sale, identity, collection of data on Jews; box no. 6: documents on insurance, distribution of Jewish property, guardianship, war assistance, citizenship, confiscation of real estate - shops, registration of personal numbers, registration of property, allocation of Jewish property, auction, companies, registry procedure, deletion of Jews from the list of tax payers, ban on Jewish societies, use of goods from Jewish shops, use of medical equipment, Jewish real estate by the Municipality, escape of Jews from Budapest; box no. 7: c. 60 files on the search for Jews, real estate data, legacies, distribution of the Jewish real estate, use of Jewish property, distribution of the expropriated radio sets; boxes no. 8-9: indexes to Record Keeping Protocol from 1944; box no. 21: Registry of Persons Under Guardianship compiled in 1944.
- Archival history:
- There is no precise data regarding the acquisition of the records. The summary catalogue was compiled in 1977, comprising only one administrative book and three boxes. Later, documents found in other fonds was added to the collection. The existing catalogue was not amended.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Hungarian Royal Army crossed the border of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia on 11 April 1941 and soon occupied Bačka and established a military administration. The territory of Bačka came under the authority of the Bačka-Bodrog District by the Decree No. 5440/ME of 22 July 1941. The civilian administration was established on the 16 August 1941. The head of the county (solgabirov) undertook the role of the county military command. The head of the county appointed the members of the assembly. The Municipality ceased to function on 8 October 1944.
