The fonds of the First Steam Sawmill and Steam Mill, Stara Kanjiža [Prva parna strugara i parni mlin d.d, Stara Kanjiža / Első Gőzfűrészés Gőzmalom Rt., Magyarkanizsa] comprises administrative books and documentation created in the period between 1909 and 1948 – legal documents dated 1901, evidence of personnel 1918-1960 and trade union documentation 1945-1954.
The books include information on the Jewish citizens who were employed in the sawmill or had business ties with the mill: record keeping protocols, personnel evidence, contributions, list of labour booklets, payrolls, general ledger, summary ledger, stock book, turnover review, current account book, output account evidence, warehouse book, book of over, etc. The records include: annual meeting documentation; final accounts, inventories, tax returns, correspondence, accounting sheets, trade union organisation. - The First Steam Sawmill and Steam Mill d.d., Stara Kanjiža began its work in 1901. It changed its name several times. From 1933 to 1941 it worked under the name “Staro-Kanjiška prva parna strugara i mlin” (The First Steam Sawmill and Mill in Stara Kanjiža), while in the period 1941-1944 it operated as “Riesz Testvérek Gőzfűrészés Gőzmalom Vállalata, Magyarkanizsa”. In 1948 the company was nationalised and renamed as the State Commercial Company of Local Importance “Petar Drapšin” the steam sawmill and mill, Kanjiža.
