- The collection, covering the period 1947 to 1967, contains minutes taken at the Executive Board's meetings, the War Veterans' Affairs Commission, the War Veterans' Children Commission, the Commission for Retirement of the Participants of the People's Liberation War, general record-keeping protocols, registers of evidence books, diary reports of the treasury, income and expenditure books, cash books, accounts and records related to credits approved for teaching purposes. The records include membership applications, details of executed partisans, reports and work plans, evidentiary lists of children of dead fighters and victims of fascist terror, questionnaires, internees, prisoners and detainees, decorations and the like. The questionnaires related to the victims of fascist terror and the persons killed and injured during WWII in Niš contained the names of Jews from the territory of Niš and its surroundings.

- The records were taken over in 1967 from the liquidated Union of WWII veterans of the County of Niš, as recorded in the minutes (Acquisition Inventory Ref. No. 350).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The County Committee of the Union of the War Veterans of Niš was established at the founding assembly held in Niš on 21 December 1947. The goal of the Union was to gather war veterans, to promote the development of socialism and to educate the youth on the heroic deeds of the veterans. The basic tasks were to preserve the brotherhood and unity of the people, ideological, political and cultural education of its members, health care, to publish memorial books, to take care of the graveyards of war veterans, to erect monuments to honour the soldiers. Sections of prisoners of war and internees were established within the Union. Two magazines "Crvena zvezda" and "7 July" were published. The Union ceased to operate on 31 March 1967 and its archival The documents were transferred to the Historical Archives of Niš.
