The collection comprises administrative books and textual material created by the National Committee of the District of Niš in the period 1944 to 1947.
The books include the minutes of the Executive Board of the Committee, the register of the Construction Department, general record-keeping protocols, protocols of the Personnel Department, Control Commission, Financial Unit, Social Care Unit, expenses and deposits, Control book of credits and Inventory of the confiscated movable goods.
The collection also includes records created by the various organisational units which provided planning and development of the authority bodies, economy, education, health care and policy in the District of Niš after WWII and in the early years after the liberation. Furthermore, it contains detailed lists of confiscated property, with Jewish property being singled out in a special group.
- Archival history:
- The records were transferred to the Archives by the Archives of Serbia (Acquisition book No.383 and 548). A part of documentation was singled out from the archival fonds of the National Committee of the City of Niš.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The National Committee of the District of Niš was founded on 8 April 1944 in Lipovac. After the liberation on October 14 it proceeded with its activity in Niš. The Committee was organised in line with the General Law on National Committees, followed the prescribed scope, work and organisation. It ceased to operate on 24 April 1947. The Liquidation Commission terminated its work on 3 May 1947.
