- Administrative/biographical history:
- The leather and textile factory “Đuka Dinić” was founded in 1910 as a factory producing leather. Its founder was the Trade Bank of Niš. It was considered the most organised and modern factory of its kind in the Balkans. After WWI the Factory operated in Bulgaria for some time; it had large orders from the Army of the Kingdom of Serbia and later from the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The Trade Bank of Niš managed the Factory until 1936, when it became the Leather Factory A.D. When Yugoslavia was occupied by Germany, the Factory came under German administration. After liberation, the Factory was nationalised in 1945 by the decision of the State Commission of the National Goods. The Factory operated until 2004 when bankruptcy proceedings were initiated.
