- Administrative/biographical history:
- The People’s Liberation Committee of the District of Leskovac was founded in November 1943 in the village of Slišano in liberated territory, with authority in two districts: Leskovac and Prokuplje. In April 1944, Prokuplje District was separated, thus it changed its name to the People's Liberation Committee of the Leskovac District, with its headquarters in Leskovac. Its main task was to organise the administration and life in its area. The District People's Committee was abolished by the Law on Administrative-Territorial Division of the People's Republic of Serbia of 24 April 1947.
