The Cadastre Office Kikinda had authority over the following towns and villages: Kikinda (Velika Kikinda), Mokrin, Bašaid, Sajan, Rusko Selo, Novi Kozarci (formerly Hajfeld and Mastort), Banatsko Veliko Selo (formerly Charleville, Soltur and St. Hubert), Iđoš, Banatska Topola, Nakovo, Bočar, Bikač, Beodra and Karlovo (now Novo Miloševo), and two villages now located in Romania, Velika Teremija and Vizežda.
The collection contains various records relating to Jewish history, in several different categories. The Register of Parcels compiled in 1912 comprised data on the parcel’s owners. The register was in use until 1950s and all changes of ownership were entered into it. The registers included lists of expropriated property and real estates, as well as lists of land seized in the agrarian reform and distributed to new owners, and data related to the type of land (e.g. construction sites, arable land, vineyard, etc.).
Title deeds were created until 1944. In addition to the names of the owners, the deeds contained the names of family members and details of the property (buildings, type of land). For the postwar period the property sheets with data from the title deeds were preserved. These documents were kept for individuals and for legal entities (companies, associations, religious communities), which enables identification of Jewish residences in the district.
The collection includes lists of sequestered and confiscated property and real estate after the war. Jewish property is designated as sequestered property, i.e. property placed under the protection of the state, since no one at that time owned it. There are also records regarding the utilisation of the Jewish property during World War II, such as economic facilities, mills, warehouses and the like by the company "Treuhand AG" from Pančevo. Some of the documents are missing, most likely removed by the occupying authorities. Documents are also less extensive prior to the 1930s.
- Archival history:
- Some of the documents were stored in the building of the former Curia, which was taken over by the Historical Archive when it moved in. The remainder was taken over from the Cadastre Office, which operated at the Municipal Assembly of Kikinda. The collection was transferred to the Historical Archives Kikinda on 19 October 1967, as recorded in the minute ref. no. 1466/67.
