- Archival history:
- The collection was transferred to the Archives by the Primary School “Nikola Tesla” from Zrenjanin on 31 December 1973. Some documents were added by extracting them from other fonds.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The City Craft Association made a proposal for opening a craft school and the City Assembly adopted it at the session held on the 15 October 1877, because the Timisoara Chamber of Commerce and Crafts offered a subsidy. However, three years passed before the school started operating. The official opening of the City Craft School in Veliki Bečkerek (for male students only and free of charge) was on 7 March 1880. The aim of the school was to provide apprentices with knowledge of basic contents, including reading and arithmetic. After the war, the school continued to operate until the adoption of the General Law on Crafts in 1949, when craft activity was placed under the supervision of the state and the conditions for obtaining a professional degree were changed.
