- The collection comprises the personal documents of Dr Edita Vajs, including those of her work in the Women's Section of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Yugoslavia. It contains documents relating to the work of the Jewish Preschool in Belgrade, opened in 1953 for children whose parents had to work. The Preschool was the responsibility of the Women's Section, headed by the honorary president Regina Flajšer. The collection includes lists of the first generation of preschool children as well as documents relating to trips that Dr Vajs made to London, where she obtained toys for the children. There are also reports on the activities of the Women's Section, the Jewish Preschool and various other reports.

Dr Edita Vajs was born in Kaloča near Budapest on 7June 1917 in a Jewish family. She completed her primary and the secondary education in Novi Sad and Sombor. During her school years she was very active in the Jewish youth movements. Prior to World War II, during her university education, she was active in the youth section of the women’s movement and the Jewish Academy Association. She spent the period of occupation and the war in Budapest, under a false name. She completed her studies in the Faculty of Economy of the University of Belgrade, and received her PhD in 1965.
After the war, Dr Edita Vajs was a councillor in the Jewish community of Belgrade, a member of the Executive Board of Federation of Jewish Communities of Yugoslavia, the secretary and the president of the Women’s Section, one of the founders of the Jewish Preschool and the initiator of the Coordination Board of Women’s Sections. She worked as the senior research associate at the Institute of International Politics and Economics. She participated in several international Jewish conferences and congresses, and also wrote for the "Jewish Review" and the "Jewish Almanac". She was married to Dr Albert Vajs. She died in Belgrade on 12 July 2002.
