This collection comprises the records of the Serbian National Bank, dealing with its monetary and credit policies, including the withdrawal and replacement of the Yugoslav money by the Serbian dinar, as well as foreign exchange and clearing operations during the Second World War. Some of the collection refers to Jewish property (confiscations, claims of Jews and enterprises founded by the Jewish capital deposited with the National Bank of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in liquidation, as well as with the Serbian National Bank, transfer of Jewish claims and deposits, claims of Jewish prisoners of war, accounts, lists of depositors in the State Hypothecary Bank).
The following documents refer to Jews: List of claims by Jewish companies and individuals based on the exchange rate clearing with Germany upon the requests placed prior to 17 April 1941 (the capitulation of the country); Report on unliquidated prisoner of war remittances of Jews dispatched to them on the territory of Serbia, 11 March 1944; List of transfers that couldn't be remitted to users or senders due to their Jewish origin; - Administrative/biographical history:
- The Serbian National Bank was founded on 29 May 1941 by the order of the Military Commander in Serbia and ceased to exist with the liberation of Belgrade in October 1944. It was active in the region where the Military Command was in charge. The Bank was founded after the decomposition of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and its monetary system. With the German occupation the National Bank of Yugoslavia underwent the liquidation process and accordingly the Serbian National Bank was founded, while in the territory of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) the Croat State Bank was founded. It was active during the German occupation and with the liberation and the change of the socio-political system it ceased to exist.
